Sounds interesting, even though all I saw was the Title and the little bit at the top next to the title. I'll be checking into this.

How Combat Tai Chi Uses Traditional Chinese Medicine Part I - Artipot

Chinese civilization has studied both medicine and the martial arts for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. It would be surprising if a blending of these traditions had not taken place. Behind the graceful movements of Tai Chi practice lies a combat art that is as sophisticated as it is deadly.

Combat Tai Chi relies on meridian theory elaborated by Traditional Chinese Medicine. Running through the body, there are pathways of energy. The energy or qi that runs through the body is not a mystical substance. Instead, chi can be understood in western scientific terms in light of physics and biology. Meridian theory is one of the building blocks of of acupuncture, Qigong and other Chinese healing arts.

Tai Chi is best-known for its health benefits. Many people in the United States practice Tai Chi in order to live healthier lives while paying little attention to the martial aspects of the art. In order to fight well, a martial artist must be in good health in general. Among many other health benefits, Tai Chi develops the health of its practitioners through encouraging good flow of chi through the meridians of the body. This basic level of health is a foundation on which other aspects of the art are built. Tai Chi enables its practitioners to direct qi or energy in a combat setting in order to do damage against opponents.

There are many different meridian lines in the body. For example, the kidney meridian runs from the bottom of the foot in the middle up through the kidney area up through the top of the chest area to the underside of the back of the tongue. In some places, the meridians are deeply buried in the body and are therefore hard to access for a health professional such as an acupuncturist or for a martial artist.

However, in other places, the meridians run right underneath the surface of the skin. These easy access points to the meridians are pressure points. You might have had a friend or a massage therapist press hard on a pressure point spot in order to release tension. This technique is actually using the meridians of the body.

In the United States, pressure point strikes are the most well-known (though not very well understood) martial application of Chinese Traditional Medicine. A martial artist hits a specific point or combination of points on the body yielding a knockout or some other dramatic effect. Tai Chi uses these kinds of hits in many different ways.

Pressure point strikes can be used to accomplish a wide variety of goals. Some of them can cause the muscles or tendons on an opponent to seize up or even displace bones. Others directly affect the meridians of the body. There are pressure point strikes that can cause blockages in meridians or reverse the flow of chi. Others can even reverse or close off the flow of blood through veins or arteries.

In part II: Tai Chi and Traditional Chinese Medicine team up for deadly force with Dim Mak or Death Touch.

So Long GBTV, Glenn Beck's Web TV Network To Rebrand As ...

One year after officially announcing his new web-TV venture GBTV, former Fox News host Glenn Beck is changing it up. Beck?s company, Mercury Radio Arts, will merge GBTV with TheBlaze.com, its news and opinion website, and Markdown.com, its eCommerce site, into one multimedia company, to be called TheBlaze.

As part of the merger, GBTV will now be called TheBlaze TV. CNN?s Steve Krakauer spoke to Beck about the change:

?I didn?t like the name GBTV from the very beginning for a couple of reasons,? Beck said in an exclusive interview with CNN.com. ?One, it?s a little egocentric, and two, it?s television, which doesn?t describe necessarily what we do.?

Executives at GBTV and TheBlaze, who include former Fox News executive Joel Cheatwood, Premiere Radio Networks executive Kraig Kitchin and former Huffington Post CEO Betsy Morgan will take on slightly tweaked roles in the new venture as co-presidents, each overseeing an aspect of the new company. More information on those roles, after the jump.

For GBTV, the move helps align the company?s fastest-growing properties under one umbrella. TheBlaze.com has quickly established itself as a viable news and commentary site, while GBTV continues to add new subscribers every month. By combining resources and a name, the company may be able to shuttle visitors back and forth, and make it easier for new visitors to wrap their head around the products the company produces.

MERCURY RADIO ARTS MERGES STREAMING VIDEO NETWORK GBTV WITH NEWS AND INFORMATION SITE THEBLAZE TO CREATE A SINGLE MULTIPLATFORM MEDIA COMPANY

Merger Builds on the Quick Success of both GBTV and TheBlaze Which Receives Over 7 Million Unique Visitors Per Month

Combines GBTV?s Line-up of Programming With TheBlaze.com?s Growing Team of More than 25 Journalists Into One Powerful Brand

Mercury?s E-Commerce Site The Marketplace by Markdown.com, Will Also Be Integrated Into New Entity

The Merged Network, Called TheBlaze Will Be An Online News, Information, Entertainment and E-Commerce Destination Spanning Video, Radio, Publishing and The Internet

(New York, NY and Dallas, TX June 18th) Mercury Radio Arts, Glenn Beck?s multi-media production company, announced today that it is merging GBTV, its streaming video network with TheBlaze, its news and information website to create a single multiplatform media company. The new entity, which will be known as TheBlaze, combines one of the world?s largest subscription streaming video networks with a website that generates over 7 million unique visitors per month into one powerful multimedia brand. TheBlaze, which will soon offer video content on a 24/7 basis, will be a news, information, entertainment, and e-commerce network, spanning all media including video, radio, publishing, and the Internet.

Glenn Beck said: ?I said from the very beginning that I did not want to call the network GBTV, and a year later I finally got my way. We have ambitious plans for this network and combining the power of GBTV and TheBlaze will help us build upon our success.?

The Marketplace by Markdown.com will also be integrated directly into TheBlaze.com, giving small businesses that participate in the marketplace access to an even larger audience of potential consumers, and rounding out TheBlaze?s revenue mix to include e-commerce.

TheBlaze will offer a mix of premium subscription video content and free content:

The premium subscription content will be what is currently known as GBTV, a streaming video network featuring Glenn?s weekday show. Since its launch in September 2011, the network has already added a wide range of original programming, including the reality show Independence USA, the kid?s show Liberty TreeHouse, the news show Real News, and the comedy news show The B.S. of A, totaling over 34 hours of original programming per week. The network will soon provide video content on a 24/7 basis. Beginning later this year, existing subscribers to GBTV.com will be automatically redirected to TheBlaze.com. The network will also continue to be available on iOS devices, Roku and Boxee.

The free content will be available at TheBlaze.com and will continue to include a mix of original reporting, curated content and opinion pieces.

Christopher Balfe, President and COO of Mercury said: ?TheBlaze and GBTV have each proven to be incredible success stories in a very short period of time. Combining them will help us accelerate future growth by focusing on one world-class brand that offers the best of everything we produce in a single destination.?

TheBlaze?s executive team, which will report to Balfe, brings years of experience from leadership level positions in television, radio and digital media:

Betsy Morgan, formerly President of TheBlaze is being promoted to President & Chief Strategy Officer of the combined company. Prior to joining Mercury, Morgan was CEO of The Huffington Post and a Senior Vice President at CBS News.

Joel Cheatwood, formerly President of Programming at GBTV is being promoted to President & Chief Content Officer of TheBlaze. Prior to joining Mercury, Cheatwood was a Senior Vice President at FoxNews and CNN.

Kraig Kitchin, formerly Director of Ad Sales at TheBlaze is

being promoted to President & Chief Revenue Officer of the combined company. Prior to joining Mercury, Kitchin co-founded Premiere Radio Networks-the top radio network in the country and the distributor of Glenn?s radio show.

Carolyn Polke, formerly Senior Vice President of Digital at Mercury is being promoted to President & Chief Operating Officer of TheBlaze. Carolyn has helped spearhead Mercury?s recent digital growth. Previously, she was a consultant at Accenture.

Scott Baker, who has been with TheBlaze.com since its launch, will continue in his role as Editor-in-Chief.

TheBlaze will be fully integrated with The Marketplace by Markdown.com, a curated marketplace platform to help local small businesses reach consumers across the country. Keith Ferry, former President of Markdown joins TheBlaze as Senior Vice President of Digital.

TheBlaze also includes a monthly magazine and news updates delivered each morning on Glenn?s radio show.

Is America heeding Watergate's lessons, 40 years on?

Four decades after Watergate, experts and protagonists in the 20th century's worst US political scandal worry that its lessons are melting away, amid deepening Washington dysfunction and a return of sweeping presidential power.

Sunday marks exactly 40 years since a handful of third-rate burglars were arrested at the tony Washington building as they broke into the Democratic National Committee headquarters.

What followed was a series of revelations about hush money, espionage, secret recordings and an elaborate cover-up that shocked the world -- a scandal so explosive it reached the highest echelons of power and ultimately brought down president Richard Nixon, who resigned in disgrace in August 1974.

Much of what we know about Watergate first came to light through the gumshoe reporting of The Washington Post's Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, whose work became the user's manual for investigative reporting.

But a man who had a profound effect on the aftermath of Watergate said students of history should focus directly on the occupant of the White House at the time, and his terrifying abuse of executive authority.

"It is not a journalism story. It's all about Richard Nixon," historian, author and retired professor Stanley Kutler told AFP.

It was Kutler's successful 1990s lawsuit against Nixon and the National Archives that forced the release of the long-suppressed tapes from the recording system that the president had ordered installed in the White House.

The recordings, he said, show a paranoid and vengeful president who spent an inordinate amount of time ordering underlings to dig up dirt on his opponents.

"Nixon had enemies, imagined and real," many of whom had emerged in the heat of a divisive Vietnam war when Washington was overrun with thousands of protesters, Kutler said.

"From Vietnam, we didn't learn the lesson that there are limits to American power." And Watergate showed Americans "the limits of presidential power," he said.

"Take those two events, Vietnam and Watergate, and you get a new country after that."

Woodward and Bernstein last Sunday were quick to point to the "enormous" crimes committed by Nixon and the various "wars" he launched -- against the anti-war movement, the press, Democrats who threatened to rob him of a second term, and the Watergate cover-up and obstruction of justice.

"Really what we found is that his White House became, to a remarkable extent, a criminal enterprise such as we've never had in our history," Bernstein told CBS.

Americans have always had a healthy distrust of government. It's part of the country's makeup, said Steve Billet, who directs the Masters in Legislative Affairs program at George Washington University.

But as Watergate unfolded, "the government turned into the enemy," Billet said. "It became the fulfillment of a prophecy that government might endanger our liberties, and it did."

As Americans remained suspicious of the potential for malfeasance and abuse in the White House, that dire assessment undermined confidence in the government and the president, and that persists to this day, Billet and others say.

Kutler said he believes Watergate "had a lot to do with superheating our political climate," in which partisanship is the order of the day on Capitol Hill.

"Everything is done in the context of politics today," he said. "This is the way our minds are working now."

The investigation of Watergate and its vast cover-up ultimately sent 40 Nixon aides and others to jail.

Among them was John Dean, who was counsel to Nixon at the time of the Watergate break-in and eventually cooperated with the probe.

He now warns of a return to excessive executive power, particularly in the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks.

"Watergate's warning has steadily lost its power over the years, particularly given fear of terrorism during the past decade," Dean wrote this week in The New York Times.

"That fear has been used to justify levels of presidential power that Nixon could have only dreamed possible."

Dean cites a long list of presidential excesses: Ronald Reagan's abuses during the Iran-Contra episode; Bill Clinton's deceit during the Monica Lewinsky affair; George W. Bush's commitment to war in Iraq based on "fake intelligence;" and President Barack Obama's continued detention of US citizens who are deemed terror threats.

And with abuse inevitably inviting scandal, it may be just a matter of time before a new bombshell like the one 40 years ago.

"I can certainly imagine another Watergate," said author Thomas Mallon, whose book "Watergate: A Novel" came out in February.

With information the most valued currency in politics, the next great scandal "would certainly involve something like hacking," Mallon said.

"People have learned to be more cautious," he said, but "at some point in American history, there will be some scandal that eclipses Watergate."

Braun hits 2 HRs, is beating his 2011 MVP pace

By JON KRAWCZYNSKI

AP Baseball Writer

Associated Press Sports

updated 5:41 p.m. ET June 16, 2012

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Ryan Braun has watched his childhood buddy Trevor Plouffe climb up the leader board in home runs with a remarkable binge of late that included two long balls in Minnesota's series opener against Braun's Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.

With Plouffe right in Braun's rearview mirror, the reigning NL MVP put on a show in Plouffe's spacious backyard on Saturday to let him know where he stands.

Braun hit two home runs and Michael Fiers pitched seven strong innings to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-2 over the Minnesota Twins.

"I can't let Trev surpass me in homers or I will never hear the end of it," Braun said with a smile. "It's my motivation to not allow Trevor Plouffe to pass me in home runs, which is not easy to do. Luckily we didn't throw him any strikes today. He only got to swing the bat once."

Braun added a double and a walk to back Fiers (2-2), the right-hander who gave up one run on four hits with five strikeouts. Aramis Ramirez and Cody Ransom also homered for the Brewers, who have taken the first two games in this interleague series.

Liam Hendriks (0-3) gave up five runs - two earned - on eight hits in five innings in his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Rochester. Plouffe went 0 for 1 with three walks, ending his streak of four straight games with a homer as the Twins lost their fourth straight.

"They weren't giving me much to hit today," said Plouffe, who leads the majors with 13 homers since May 16.

Ben Revere had two hits and an RBI for the Twins. Joe Mauer didn't start because of a sore hamstring, but grounded out in a pinch-hit appearance in the ninth to end the game.

Norichicka Aoki had two hits and two RBIs for the Brewers.

Braun is hitting .322 with 19 homers and 47 RBIs this season, even better numbers than at this point last year when he won the NL MVP award.

In eight interleague games this year, Braun is hitting .515 (17 for 33) with five home runs and 14 RBIs. The numbers are even more impressive considering Braun spent much of the offseason winning an appeal of a 50-game suspension for a positive drug test and he no longer has Prince Fielder hitting behind him for protection.

"I'm like a little kid in the dugout," Fiers said. "I want to watch every at-bat he has."

Braun and Plouffe have been friends for the better part of 15 years. Plouffe played baseball with Braun's younger brother growing up in California and got to know Braun, who is two years older, quite well. They share the same agent and work out together in the offseason.

"He's a special player," Plouffe said. "We've got to contain him. Can't let him beat us."

The Brewers were much more careful with Plouffe, who went deep 10 times in the previous 14 games, on Saturday. Fiers didn't give him much to hit in the first two at-bats, walking him twice before getting him to fly out to left in the seventh.

The Twins probably should've taken a similar approach with Braun.

Braun and Ramirez went back-to-back in the third inning, the second time this season the Brewers have gone deep two hitters in a row. Braun's solo shot was a rare opposite field homer for a right-handed hitter at Target Field, landing in the flower bed above the scoreboard in right-center.

"He's just got tremendous power," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "There's really no ballpark that can hold him in when he's hitting the ball well. When you see a guy going right-center, a right-hander in this ballpark, it's struck really well."

Braun got a little help in the fifth to get a crack at another one. He lifted a fly ball down the first base line and second baseman Jamey Carroll couldn't hold on to the ball after a very long run, getting charged with a tough error on the play.

Braun hit the next pitch into the bullpen in left-center field, giving the Brewers a 5-1 lead.

"I put too much of it out over the plate and he hit it a ton," Hendriks said.

NOTES: Ransom's HR was his first in 19 games with the Brewers since being claimed off waivers from Arizona. ... Brewers RHP Marco Estrada (right quad) was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. ... Willingham was at DH rather than his usual spot in LF to rest an achy knee. ... Twins 1B Justin Morneau returned to the lineup after missing the game Friday night with a sore left forearm. He went 0 for 4, including a rally-killing double play in the eighth inning. ... The Twins will send RHP Nick Blackburn (3-4, 7.68) to the mound for the series finale on Sunday against Zack Greinke (7-2, 2.96). Greinke has allowed one run or fewer in six of his last seven starts.

Antioxidant shown to reduce blindness risk in extremely premature babies

ScienceDaily (June 15, 2012) ? Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is the second most common cause of childhood blindness in the United States, occurring in half of premature infants born earlier than or at 28 weeks gestational age. The condition is caused by abnormal blood vessel development in the retina of the eye. ROP risk increases with decreasing gestational age.

A study by researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) suggests that the antioxidant, rhSOD (recombinant human Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase), reduces the risk of developing ROP in extremely low gestational age newborns.

The post-hoc analysis study is published online on June 15, 2012 in Neonatology.

Researchers looked at a subset of data from a previous multicenter trial that randomized 302 preterm infants to receive either rhSOD or placebo for prevention of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (a chronic lung condition that affects newborn babies). Researchers analyzed the data looking specifically at the incidence and severity of ROP in extremely low gestational age newborns.

Within the entire cohort, there were no significant differences in ROP in newborns given placebo versus those given rhSOD. However, those born earlier than 26 weeks (72 babies) had a 22 percent reduction in ROP. The abnormality was reduced by 53 percent for babies born earlier than 25 weeks (24 babies).

"Even though strides have been made in developing interventions to stop ROP from progressing to blindness, there are currently no therapies available for ROP prevention," said Richard Parad, MD, BWH Department of Newborn Medicine, lead study author. "There is a large need for the preventive approach that rhSOD could potentially provide."

The researchers note that while looking at ROP was not the primary outcome for which the prior study was designed, this post-hoc analysis was carefully re-focused on the tiniest babies with the highest ROP risk based on recent advances in the understanding of how ROP develops and on evidence from prior studies of other antioxidants that suggested such agents might interfere with development of ROP.

In light of the findings, the researchers stress that further studies are required to confirm their observations.

This research was supported by Biotechnology General Corporation (now Savient Pharmaceuticals). rhSOD is currently owned by Ferring Pharmaceuticals.

Croatians accused of monkey chants at Balotelli

UEFA lays down first formal charges of racism at the European Championship

Image: BalotelliAP

Italy's Mario Balotelli leaves the pitch after being substituted during the Euro 2012 match against Croatia on Thursday.

By GRAHAM DUNBAR

updated 1:26 p.m. ET June 16, 2012

WARSAW, Poland - UEFA made its first formal charges of racism at the European Championship on Saturday, opening a case against the Croatian soccer association after receiving reports that fans made monkey chants at Italy forward Mario Balotelli.

Croatia is charged with "improper conduct" of supporters, including "racist chants, racist symbols" at a game in Poznan on Thursday, the European soccer governing body said in a statement.

UEFA received reports from anti-discrimination monitors working with Football Against Racism in Europe, who wrote that Croatia fans made monkey noises and displayed far-right nationalist flags.

Balotelli, who is black, started the game for Italy against Croatia, and was replaced in the second half of the 1-1 draw.

"It was fairly consistent throughout the game," FARE executive director Piara Powar told The Associated Press. "It was at its most intense as he was substituted and left the field."

The charge also relates to fireworks thrown on the field after Croatia scored, which delayed Italy's kickoff to restart the game.

UEFA said its disciplinary panel will judge the case against Croatia on Tuesday.

The Croatia soccer association (HNS) said it condemned the incident and "distances itself from all deviant behavior on the part of the fans."

Those responsible were "not supporters, but hooligans who should be isolated from all sports events," the Croatian organization said in a statement, appealing to UEFA "not to punish the Croatian national team."

UEFA rules make national associations responsible for their fans' behavior. Punishments range from warnings and a sliding scale of fines to points deductions and even expulsion from Euro 2012.

Four years ago, UEFA fined Croatia about $20,000 for its fans' neo-Nazi flags and chants during a Euro 2008 quarterfinals loss against Turkey in Vienna.

Also in 2008, FIFA fined Croatia $27,700 after England forward Emile Heskey was subjected to racist abuse during a World Cup qualifying match in Zagreb.

UEFA is also studying reports that a banana was thrown toward the field from a section housing Croatia fans.

Balotelli has been the target of reported abuse at both Italy matches at Euro 2012.

UEFA is investigating claims by a Spanish fans' group that some Spain followers made monkey chants at him during a Group C match last Sunday in Gdansk.

In a separate investigation, UEFA is seeking evidence to support claims that Russian fans made monkey noises at Czech Republic defender Theodor Gebre Selassie in Wroclaw.

UEFA pledged zero tolerance of racism in Poland and Ukraine during the three-week tournament.

A trick of perspective -- chance alignment mimics a cosmic collision

NGC 3314A and B might look like they are in the midst of a galactic pile-up, but they are in fact separated by tens of millions of light years of void. Their apparent proximity is simply a trick of perspective.

How do we know this? The biggest hint as to whether galaxies are interacting is usually their shapes. The immense gravitational forces involved in galactic mergers are enough to pull a galaxy out of shape long before it actually collides. Deforming a galaxy like this does not just warp its structure, but it can trigger new episodes of star formation, usually visible as bright blue stars and glowing nebulae.

In the case of NGC 3314, we do indeed see deformation in the foreground galaxy (called NGC 3314A, NGC 3314B lies in the background), but this is almost certainly misleading. NGC 3314A's deformed shape, particularly visible below and to the right of the core, where streams of hot blue-white stars extend out from the spiral arms, is not due to interaction with the galaxy in the background.

Studies of the motion of the two galaxies indicate that they are both relatively undisturbed, and that they are moving independently of each other. This indicates in turn that they are not, and indeed have never been, on any collision course. NGC 3314A's warped shape is likely due instead to an encounter with another galaxy, perhaps nearby NGC 3312 (visible to the north in wide-field images) or another nearby galaxy.

The chance alignment of the two galaxies is more than just a curiosity, though. It greatly affects the way the two galaxies appear to us.

NGC 3314B's dust lanes, for example, appear far lighter than those of NGC 3314A. This is not because that galaxy lacks dust, but rather because they are lightened by the bright fog of stars in the foreground. NGC 3314A's dust, in contrast, is backlit by the stars of NGC 3314B, silhouetting them against the bright background.

Such an alignment of galaxies is also helpful to astronomers studying gravitational microlensing, a phenomenon that occurs when stars in one galaxy cause small perturbations in the light coming from a more distant one. Indeed, the observations of NGC 3314 that led to this image were carried out in order to investigate this phenomenon.

This mosaic image covers a large field of view (several times the size of an individual exposure from Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys). Thanks to a long exposure time of more than an hour in total exposure time for every frame, the image shows not only NGC 3314, but also many other more distant galaxies in the background.

The colour composite was produced from exposures taken in blue and red light.

Strip club, sports bar owner charged in worker's comp and insurance ...

The owner of a bar and strip club in Home Gardens near Corona has been charged with six?felonies, including Worker?s Compensation Insurance fraud and tax evasion, it was reported.

Angel's Sports Bar and Gentlemens Club. (contributed image)

Renee Anne Vicary, 51, was arraigned on Wednesday June 13 at the Hall of Justice in Riverside.

She surrendered in court on an arrest warrant that was issued last month, Riverside County DA spokesperson John Hall stated.

Vicary entered not guilty pleas and has a felony settlement conference scheduled for Aug. 13, 2012.

During an investigation it was found that Vicary owned and operated the following four businesses: Angels Sports Bar and Gentleman?s Club, 1650 Sixth St., Corona; Angels Sports Bar and Grill, 3020 E. Coronado St, Anaheim; Angels Roadhouse, 32464 Dunlap Blvd, Yucaipa; and Angels Roadhouse #2, 13685 John Glenn Road, Apple Valley.

Angels Sports Bar in Corona was featured on an episode of the Spike TV show ?Bar Repair? in July 2011 during which it was renamed Racks Billiards and Bourbon.

Vicary is charged with one count each of Unemployment Insurance Code section 2117.5, filing a false tax return with the California Employment Development Department (EDD) and Unemployment Insurance Code section 2118.5, failure to collect and pay tax to EDD, Hall explained.

She also has been charged with one count of Insurance Code section 11880, willful misrepresentation to obtain insurance and three counts each of Insurance Code section 11760, willful misrepresentation to obtain Worker?s Compensation Insurance.

Nearly two years ago, the Riverside County District Attorney?s Office began an investigation after receiving information that Vicary was under-reporting her employee payroll at the Corona location.

It was found that the insurance policy listed Vicary as employing four employees at each of the Corona and Anaheim businesses and three employees at each of the two San Bernardino County businesses.

Investigators determined that Vicary actually employed more employees than that at each of the four locations.

Hall said search warrants were served at all four businesses as well as Vicary?s Corona home and several financial institutions. It took many months for EDD and three insurance companies used by Vicary to complete audits.

Once those audits were done, it was found that losses were in excess of $340,000. Vicary was then charged by the DA?s Office with the six felonies.

If convicted as now charged, Vicary faces up to 14 years, four months in prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Michael Mayman of the DA?s?Insurance Fraud Unit.

There's a house. In this house, there are people. These people capture other people. But the people they capture aren't normal. They are special. And they are kids.

Image

It might look like a house for damaged teens who get in trouble with the law or disobey their parents, but in fact it is a house that holds a lot of power. Watch as kids come in one by one, trapped with in walls with others just like them. They make friends and enemies, some are more powerful than others, but they all have one thing in common. They want to escape. How will they work together and use the powers they possess to break free from their bounds and escape to the real world.

We need some people to play the kids (ages 14-18) and some to play the adults/keepers
The powers can't be anything crazy like flying, only minor things like seeing the dead, speaking to animals, fast speed, etc.

We're more intrigued by the unabashed "Voice" rip-off "The Choice," which sees celebrities such as DJ Pauly D, Romeo, Jeremy Bloom and Jason Cook take to the spinning chairs to choose attractive singles to take on a date, sight unseen. It kind of ignores "The Voice's" central premise, since all of the single contestants are supposedly attractive and thus not in need of a blind audition, but it should have some novelty value.

Located 45 miles south of New Orleans, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office investigates thousands of incidents every year. Whether it's a creepy sighting of the Rougarou ("shape-shifting swamp monster"), a distressed neighbor reporting a stolen air conditioner during a heat wave, or a lead on a gruesome local serial-killer case; the deeper into the sticky swampland the deputies delve, the stranger and more mysterious the calls become.

  • Fri., June 8: "Lives on Fire"
